It’s not only shopping and modern complexes providing all kinds of entertainment that are found in Batam Island. Indeed, swimming and other water sports in Batam Island are available for those looking for a beach vacation.
There are a number of beaches in Batam, not to mention the beaches located in the surrounding islands of Barelang. Some of the beaches in Batam are public and some are private, perfect for honeymooners, couples and families with small children. Following are some of the beaches in Batam:
- Nongsa, Batam Beaches
Located on the North-Eastern coasts of Batam are some of the best beaches in the island. There is the Nongsa Point Marina and Resort, and there’s the Turi Beach resort. Both offer great swimming opportunities, even though the waters of Batam are generally murky because of its busy boat terminal coasts.
The Nongsa Point Marina Beach provides water activities such as parasailing, banana boat rides, jet ski rides and snorkeling. The Turi Beach Resort, on the other hand, found just beside the Nongsa Point Marina, offers fishing trips on top of swimming and several other water sports.
- Batam View Beach
The Batam View Beach is nice and provides a great swimming experience because there are sheltered parts not touched by the sun. You can also engage in water sports in the beach and equipment is available in the resort. The Batam View Beach is ideal for families and groups looking for a more private place.
- Waterfront City, Batam Beaches
The Waterfront beach is where you’ll find numerous water activities, making it an ideal place for those who love water adventures. Some of the water sports include parasailing, paddle boats, banana boat rides, surfing and many others. The beach is also good for swimming. Public transportation like taxi cabs is available.
- Barelang Islands Beaches
There are numerous beaches in Barelang, an acronym that stands for the three larger islands of the six islands all connected to each other by the Barelang Bridges. The Barelang stands for Batam Island, Relang Island and the Galang Island. The other islands include the Tonton Island, Nipah Island and the Setotok Island.
The water of the beaches in these islands is clearer, and it’ll only take about an hour to get there from downtown Batam. Some of the best beaches in these islands include the Pantai Pasir Putih (White Sands Beach), Pantai Melayu (Melayu Beach) and the Memory Hill Beach.
These quieter beaches are great for swimming, especially if you don’t like swimming in a crowded beach. In recent years, the islands have become more popular and visitors have discovered the secluded beaches they have. Most of the islands, however, still get very few visitors especially during weekdays.
It’ll be worthy to note though that some of the beaches only have basic facilities. In spite of this, swimming and other water sports in Batam Island can also be enjoyed here, giving you a lot of choices for your beach vacation. So have fun in the sun and in the sand, and visit the beaches of Batam and its surrounding islands: most who have been there will agree that any trip to the beaches of the area will be worth it.
